Wholesale Car Stereo was founded to be a focused, specialty distributor for the mobile electronics industry in Southern California. Today's vehicle owner is a moving target, and it is increasingly difficult for the independent dealer to stay on top of trents and to maintain the right inventory mix for a variety of unique, vehicle-specific installations. As vehicle integration becomes more and more a part of our business, having a wide selection of products available on short notice will become critical.
"Because of the high cost of navigation and mobile entertainment products, it is more and more expensive to inventory a mobile electronics store," says John Haynes, general manager. "The need to carry dozens, even hundreds of specialty integration devices makes the situation even worse. Using a distributor to carry the burden of the inventory makes good business sense."
Wholesale Car Stereo operates out of the San Fernando Valley in the Los Angeles area, and ships overnight to its accounts six days a week. Free freight is offered for orders exceeding $1,200, but any size order is accepted and shipped the same day. "Our official cut-off time is 3 p.m.," Haynes says, "but I can't recall a single time that an order wasn't shipped if the truck was somewhere on the property. We really pride ourselves on getting the products into the hands of our customers the next day."
By specializing in mobile electronics, Wholesale Car Stereo is able to offer more than just products. The support staff knows the products inside and out, and knows what vehicles they will work with and how. One of the largest vehicle integration databases in the world makes it easy to find the right products for virtually any car. An online catalog and "shopping cart" style Web site allow for easy product review and selection, with password-protected price viewing.
"It's our goal to be the 12-volt specialty distributor in Southern California," says Haynes. "We're all enthusiasts here. Everyone lives, eats, and breathes mobile electronics."
